In 1988 a small enthusiastic group of Western Performance competitors got together and decided the local area was in need of a forum for their chosen interest. On 17th January, 1989 the Gunalda & District Western Performance Club Inc. was formed. It was then and is now only a small club with a solid core of hard working members - the secret to its success.
Some fifteen years on it is still offering Members and other Western Performance enthusiasts alike, Nine shows a year, the feature being a State show, Training Clinics and a welcoming, friendly environment in which to show their Western Performance Horses.

Tiaro Shire is located between Gympie and Maryborough within the Wide Bay region - South East Queensland, Australia. The district is predominantly Rural with a number of small townships scattered throughout the agricultural areas. Gunalda is one such Township, situated about 25 mins north of Gympie nestled at the foot of Gunalda Range in the Fraser Coast Hinterland.
